Education & Training
Capital Fibreglass Pools recognises the investment education and training play in developing its people, products and ultimately its client satisfaction. Therefore, Simon Gainey is passionately committed to developing, educating and training his staff, including recruiting a first year apprentice; his son Nic Gainey.
Nic is learning all aspects of the trade both formally and informally, including building, installation, plumbing and tiling and is making outstanding progress surrounded by skilled, qualified trade professionals willing to impart their knowledge.
While Nic is being trained through the Australian Skills Based Apprenticeship scheme (ASBA); seeing him learn all aspects of landscape construction, the connection is much deeper for Simon. Nic is also being mentored with a view to take over the family business and help grow the organisation into the future. This will require Simon to not just teach Nic the hands-on-skills of pool construction but also what’s involved in running and growing a successful business.
With 30 years in the pool industry, there isn’t much Simon hasn’t experienced or encountered. With his background in providing pool and spa maintenance and servicing, Simon then moved into the complex world of fibreglass pool construction, installation and renovation. A move which not only built on his education, training and in-depth knowledge within the industry, but provided clients with confidence which can only come from Simon’s extensive skills, experience and proven track record in delivering outstanding pools and spas.
To add to Simon’s impressive array of skills, he’s also a qualified Zodiac technician and is the only Titanium pool builder in the ACT, having undertaken the appropriate training and certification. He has also gained his concrete pool builders’ licence in both the ACT and NSW, to offer a complete range of pool building options for clients. Simon is always looking for ways to build on his depth of knowledge, he’s often sought after for advice from within the industry and even the media.
